Finally, a Different Approach to PT – That Works

If you’ve been through the wringer of doctor visits, chiropractic adjustments, or generic physical therapy sessions and still have pain, I hear you. Many of my clients come to me frustrated and skeptical after past treatments fell short. Perhaps you were told to “just exercise through it,” or you spent weeks in a big PT clinic doing cookie-cutter exercises with minimal results. If that sounds familiar, take heart: Bounceback Physical Therapy is not your typical PT experience. I do things differently – and my approach is often the missing piece that helps people who had lost hope. Located in Hixson and serving Chattanooga, Red Bank, Soddy-Daisy, Lakesite and beyond, I specialize in helping frustrated patients finally find relief. It’s time to address the root cause of your pain with personalized, expert care. Book your discovery call today and let’s talk about how I can help where others couldn’t.

Why Other Treatments May Have Fallen Short

When you’ve tried physical therapy (or other remedies) before and didn’t get better, it’s usually not your fault – it’s that the approach wasn’t the right fit. Traditional clinics often rush appointments or focus only on the spot that hurts, rather than the full picture. Here are some common scenarios I hear from frustrated patients:
  • “I did PT before, but it felt like a factory.” Many big clinics schedule multiple patients for the same time slot. You might have spent most of your sessions doing exercises on your own or with an aide, getting only a few minutes of attention from the therapist. It’s hard to improve without skilled supervision and adjustments.

  • “They never figured out what was really wrong.” Perhaps you were treated only where you felt pain (like your knee or neck), but the true cause – maybe weak hip muscles or a misaligned spine – was overlooked. Without addressing the root cause, the pain kept coming back.

  • “I tried everything – chiropractic, injections, pain meds – nothing provided lasting relief.” Quick fixes like a spinal adjustment or a cortisone shot can help temporarily, but they often don’t solve underlying movement problems or muscle imbalances. So your pain returns, leaving you cycling through short-term solutions.

  • “The exercises I got were too generic (or too easy, or too hard).” Maybe you were handed a photocopied sheet of basic exercises that didn’t really target your issue, or you found them so easy they didn’t help (or so painful you couldn’t do them). Without a customized plan, progress stalls.

  • “I even had surgery, and I’m still in pain.” This is the ultimate frustration – going through an operation (like a disc surgery or rotator cuff repair) only to find you still have pain afterward. Often, post-surgery rehab doesn’t address adjacent areas or compensations, but I can step in here to identify why you’re still hurting and fix it.

Sound familiar? The good news is, Bounceback PT is built for people like you. Bounceback is a one-on-one, root-cause-focused practice – essentially the opposite of the “factory clinic” experience. I take the time to really listen to your history and investigate all contributing factors to your pain. Many of my formerly-frustrated patients say they finally understand their bodies after I’ve explained what’s really causing their issue.

A Fresh, “Root Cause” Physical Therapy Approach

So how is my approach different? First, you’ll receive a comprehensive evaluation that looks at your entire body mechanics, not just the one spot that hurts. For example, if you’re frustrated with chronic shoulder pain that past therapy didn’t fix, I might discover the real issue is poor upper back mobility or a pinched nerve in your neck. Or maybe you have knee pain that kept returning after standard treatment – I may find that tight hips or flat feet are putting extra strain on your knee. This deep detective work is step one.

Next, I design an individualized treatment plan to address those root causes. Here are some key elements I use to succeed where others haven’t:
  • One-on-One Manual Therapy: Every session is just you and me working together. I use extensive hands-on techniques – far beyond what you may have received in a busy clinic. Joint mobilizations, soft tissue release, stretching – these free up restrictions and immediately reduce pain. It’s amazing how chronic neck pain & headaches, for instance, can improve when I spend focused time releasing tight neck joints and muscles (time you likely didn’t get elsewhere).

  • Advanced Techniques (Dry Needling, Taping): If appropriate, I incorporate specialty treatments that you might not have tried in past PT. Dry needling can release stubborn trigger points in muscles that were never fully addressed before (great for persistent back or hip pain). Targeted taping techniques can support an area (like your shoulder or knee) to allow movement without pain while I work on longer-term strength and mobility – something that generic home exercises alone can’t achieve.

  • Customized Exercise & Education: Instead of handing you the same old generic exercises, I tailor a program to your specific deficiencies. If your previous therapy didn’t resolve your pain, chances are some muscle was left weak or some movement pattern uncorrected. I pinpoint those – maybe your glutes aren’t firing, or your shoulder blade is moving poorly – and give you purposeful exercises to fix it. I also teach you exactly how to do them correctly (remember, one-on-one attention) so you’re not unknowingly reinforcing bad habits.

  • Holistic, Whole-Body Focus: People with long-term or multiple issues especially benefit from my broad approach. I won’t treat your lower back pain in isolation; I’ll also examine hip flexibility, core stability, even ankle mobility – because it could all be connected. This whole-body approach often reveals why standard therapies failed. In fact, I wrote an entire blog on my Root Cause Physical Therapy philosophy – I truly practice what I preach.

  • Open Communication & Iteration: Another difference: I listen and adjust. If something isn’t improving, I don’t just repeat the same protocol and hope for the best. I’ll re-assess, dig deeper, and modify your plan. You’re part of the team – your feedback guides me. Many frustrated patients tell me this collaborative approach was lacking in their past care.

The bottom line: I treat you as a unique individual, not a diagnosis code. This is the level of personalization and expertise that often turns “PT didn’t work for me” into “Wow, I finally feel better!” Many of my patients who had given up on therapy are now my biggest success stories.

Success Where Others Failed – Patient Stories

Nothing speaks louder than real results. Here’s what one of my patients shared after finding relief at Bounceback PT following years of disappointment elsewhere:

“I have been to several chiropractors, physical therapists and doctors over about 10 years now for back pain and nothing seemed to work until I saw Chase Helgren!” – Haley F., finally pain-free after 10 years

Haley F's story is powerful – a decade of chronic back pain and multiple providers, but it wasn’t until she tried my approach that she felt true relief. And she’s not alone. Many say they finally found the chronic pain specialist they were looking for – someone who explains their condition and helps them achieve real recovery.

You don’t have to settle for subpar results or endless frustration. If you’re ready to try physical therapy again – this time with an approach centered on you – I’m ready to help. Book your discovery call today! It’s a free, no-pressure call where I’ll listen to your story (finally, someone who listens!) and outline how I can pave a new path to relief. My Hixson clinic is convenient for patients from Chattanooga, Soddy-Daisy, Red Bank, Lakesite and surrounding communities. More importantly, it’s a place where hope is restored. You’ve tried the rest; now experience the difference of one-on-one, root-cause care that truly puts an end to the pain that others couldn’t fix.
